On a Bosch dishwasher, the display code does a lot of the sorting before anyone opens a panel. According to Bosch, E24 points at a drain filter blockage, E25 at a blocked drain pump or a loose or missing pump cover, and E15 means the safety switch has found water in the base and the leakage protection system has switched on. Those three codes lead to three separate places inside the machine, which is why the code is worth writing down before you reset anything.

Water sits in the tub after the cycle, the program pauses partway, or you hear gurgling, and the panel reads E24 or E25.
Bosch ties E24 to a blocked drain filter and lists a blocked drain hose, a filter that needs cleaning, and one installation mistake: a newly fitted garbage disposal whose knockout plug was never removed. E25 is a different fault – Bosch says the drain pump is blocked or its cover, which sits under the filter, is loose or missing. iFixit groups the same drain path together: clogged filter, blocked impeller, loose pump cover, kinked or blocked waste-water hose, or an obstructed siphon connection.
Work along the drain path in order – filter, pump cover and impeller, hose, siphon connection, and the disposal inlet if the dishwasher drains there. Bosch warns that debris in the pump can have sharp edges, so the pump is cleared by hand with care. If every passage is clear and the code returns, the pump itself gets tested.
E15 appears and the dishwasher will not run a normal cycle, even when the kitchen floor looks dry.
Bosch describes E15 as the safety switch detecting water in the base of the dishwasher, and its instruction is to turn off the water inflow and get help rather than keep running it. iFixit explains the mechanism: a foam float near the center of the base rises when water collects and trips the switch. It also allows for a temporary control board error, cleared by cutting power for five minutes – but if the code comes back, water is the likely reason, and iFixit stresses that resetting the switch does not repair the leak that set it off.
Remove the kick plate, check the base and float for water or debris, and then locate where the water came from. Drying the float alone only postpones the next E15. Until the source is found, keep following Bosch’s instruction and leave the water inflow turned off rather than running another load to see whether it happens again.

Bosch lists two causes for E18 on its washers: a drainage hose that is blocked or kinked, and a blocked pump. Bosch’s steps are to check the hose for kinks, clean the hose and siphon spigot, then open the service flap, drain the remaining water, and clean the pump interior, cover thread and housing – the pump impeller wheel must be able to turn freely.
If the washer is stacked or enclosed, we plan access to the service flap first, then drain the drum safely, clear the pump and hose, and confirm the impeller spins. A pump that is clean but still does not move water points to a failed pump rather than a clog.
The cycle finishes on time but the load is still wet, or it takes repeated runs to dry.
Bosch’s own list starts with the lint filter, a program that does not suit the fabric, and the moisture sensor – which Bosch says can be coated in limescale or detergent residue and sits near the lint filter. Its general checklist also mentions a blocked vent exit, but Bosch’s compact dryers use condensation drying without ducting, so the part to watch is the condenser: Bosch’s maintenance guidance is to let the dryer cool, open the maintenance flap, remove and wash the condenser, and let it dry fully before putting it back.
Clean the lint filter, wipe the moisture sensor – Bosch suggests a damp cloth with a little white vinegar – and wash the condenser on models with a maintenance flap. If airflow and sensor are both good and drying is still poor, the heating and control side of the dryer is where testing continues.

On a dishwasher it is printed on the rating plate - Bosch shows that label on top of the door or on the right-hand side of the door once it is open. A photo of that plate is the quickest way to make sure a pump, filter or float switch actually matches your unit. Several causes Bosch lists above come down to cleaning or refitting existing parts - a drain filter, a pump cover, a knockout plug.
