For a Samsung in 77471, several codes are about water: whether enough arrives, whether it arrives too hot, and whether it leaves again. On both Samsung dishwashers and washers, 4C points at water supply and 5C at drainage, which makes a sound first reading possible before a single panel comes off.
This Rosenberg page starts on the dishwasher side, moves to a washer that was recently reconnected, and ends at the ice maker in the refrigerator door. Keep the code and the model number from the rating label handy; Plug Fix Repair is on (832) 598-8646.

Grey water stands in the bottom after the cycle, and the display shows 5C, 5E, SC or SE – or instead 3C.
Samsung’s dishwasher chart groups 5C, 5E, SC and SE under drainage failure: the machine was unable to empty itself. 3C is listed on its own as a pump failure, and Samsung’s first instruction there is simply to switch off and start the cycle again.
For 3C we try Samsung’s restart before anything else. If either code survives, we clean the filter area, follow the drain hose to the sink connection looking for kinks, and then test the pump.
The cycle struggles to start or seems to run short of water, and the panel reads 4C, 4E, 3E or 9E.
Samsung defines 4C/4E as a water supply error, meaning pressure or temperature falls short of what the machine needs. 3E is the reverse – incoming water that is too hot, with Samsung asking that the hot feed not exceed 176°F. 9E flags a low water level, and the suggested step is to empty the dishwasher, add detergent and run a normal cycle.
We confirm the shut-off under the sink is fully open, check water temperature at the tap, and inspect the inlet line before suspecting the dishwasher’s own valve.
A washer that was just moved or reconnected stops partway through with 5C and water left in the drum.
Improper drain hose installation is one of three causes Samsung attaches to 5C, next to a blocked filter and a kinked hose. For a standpipe hookup, Samsung’s US installation guide says to insert the drain hose at least 6 inches but no more than 8 inches, to keep the connection between hose and standpipe from being airtight, and to hold the bent spout with the supplied plastic hose guide.
We check insertion depth and the hose guide, straighten the run behind the machine, then open the lower access door, drain through the emergency hose into a shallow dish and rinse the filter in warm water.
The dispenser grinds or knocks, cubes have merged into a solid lump, and sometimes water collects beneath the crisper drawers.
Those are the complaints listed in a proposed class action over Samsung’s in-door ice makers – frost, stuck buckets, water under the crisper trays, grinding or knocking – filed in 2017 and dismissed in January 2024 after individual settlements. Samsung’s own account of the frost is warm air reaching the ice compartment, through a gap at the chute, a flap that fails to close, or a worn bucket seal.
We clear the ice, then locate the path the warm air took so the block does not re-form. If the housing or its heater has failed, the assembly is ordered against the model number.

Not necessarily. Samsung lists 3C as a pump failure but tells owners to turn the machine off and restart the cycle first. If 3C comes straight back, the pump and its connections need a proper look.
It can. Samsung uses 3E for supply water that is too hot and asks that it not exceed 176°F. Too little pressure or temperature shows as 4C instead.
Start with the hookup. Samsung's US installation guide puts the drain hose 6 to 8 inches into the standpipe, with a connection that is not airtight and no kinks in the run. If that is right, clean the filter behind the lower access door.
We check against your model number, since Samsung part numbers change between model years even when components look alike. Read it off the label inside the fridge, on the washer door frame or on the dishwasher tub.
