Ld means long drain: the control decided the water did not leave inside its expected window. Since drainage looks fine from outside, the trouble is usually upstream of the pump. Repair forum accounts describe towels that “fray and the long stringy lint” ends up in the tub bottom, “which eventually clogs the inlet to the drain pump,” a rag caught “between the wash basket and the outer tub,” and an inlet hose “clogged with bobby pins and thread.” A pressure transducer reading the wrong empty point does the same, never seeing the tub as drained.
Pump inlet and tub bottom are checked for lint and trapped items before any part is priced, because a clog is a clean-out rather than a component. If the pump is still suspect, the calibration is verified.
