Viking Range, Oven & Refrigerator Service - Fulshear, Katy, Richmond, Sugar Land and Rosenberg

A Viking range is built around big burners – on the 7 Series, Viking’s Elevation burners run 23,000 BTU across the front with 15,000 and 8,000 BTU burners at the rear, every burner has a VariSimmer setting, and SureSpark ignition relights a burner automatically if the flame goes out. That last feature matters when you are troubleshooting: a burner that sparks again after a draft or a boil-over may be the system doing its job, while sparking that never stops is a fault.

We repair Viking gas and dual-fuel ranges, rangetops, wall ovens, built-in refrigerators and dishwashers in Fulshear, Katy, Richmond, Sugar Land and Rosenberg. Call (832) 598-8646 and tell us which appliance and what it is doing.

Viking Appliances on Our List

Ranges and ovens, plus refrigeration and dishwashers.

Viking products we repair:

  • Gas and dual-fuel ranges and rangetops – sealed and open burner models, including the Gourmet-Glo infrared broiler on 7 Series dual-fuel ranges
  • Viking wall ovens and range ovens with Vari-Speed Dual Flow convection – a two-speed fan that can turn in both directions (see our oven repair page)
  • Viking built-in refrigerators and freezers
  • Viking dishwashers
  • Viking ventilation hoods

On a pro-style range, the model family changes the parts list – sealed versus open burners, all-gas versus dual fuel. The rating plate settles that before a part is ordered, so it is worth finding before the visit.

Common Viking Complaints and Their Usual Causes

Viking igniters keep sparking after the burner lights

The burner is lit but the clicking will not stop, or several burners click together when only one is on.

Viking’s own troubleshooting table for its sealed-burner gas ranges gives three causes: a power supply that is not grounded, reversed polarity, and igniters that are wet or dirty. Its cleaning instructions add that the two tabs under the burner head must not line up with the igniter and the cap must sit level. On parts-retailer forums, technicians also report loose ground wires and corroded connections at the ignition module.

Dry and clean the igniters, reseat the burner heads and caps, then check outlet grounding and polarity. If those are right, the spark module, its wiring and the burner switches are tested one at a time.

Viking gas oven will not heat, though the igniter glows

You see the igniter glowing in the oven floor, but the bake burner never lights, or it takes a very long time to catch.

This is commonly reported as a weak hot-surface igniter: it still glows, but it no longer draws enough current to open the oven’s gas valve. Older Viking sealed-burner ranges use a hidden bake burner rated at 30,000 BTU, so there is no visible flame to check from the oven cavity.

Measure the igniter’s current draw rather than judging by glow, and test the gas valve and control before replacing anything. If you smell gas at any point, turn the oven off and call before using it again.

Viking oven door will not close or seal properly

The door sits open at the top, drops when released, or heat escapes around the edge.

Owners on parts forums report worn or damaged door hinges, and in some cases a gasket that has become burned and stiff. Whether the door can be adjusted depends on the model – the Viking manual for one sealed-burner range describes a door adjustment with a 5/32 in. hex key, while other models rely on hinge replacement.

Check hinge travel and mounting, inspect the gasket, and adjust where the model allows it. Worn hinges are replaced in pairs so the door closes evenly.

Viking built-in refrigerator warm while the freezer stays cold

Milk and produce feel warm, but ice cream is still hard.

Parts-retailer repair guides for Viking refrigerators point first to dirty condenser coils, which cannot shed heat, and to a failed evaporator fan – which leaves the freezer cold while the refrigerator warms up. They also list the condenser fan motor, the start relay and the door gasket.

Clean the condenser, then check both fans and the start components under load. If the refrigerator side still cannot reach temperature, airflow and defrost are traced next.

Viking dishwasher leaving water behind

Water stays in the bottom after the cycle ends.

Repair guides for Viking dishwashers list clogged filters, a check valve stuck closed, the drain pump or its impeller, the drain solenoid and the drain hose – plus the knockout plug on a newly installed garbage disposer.

Work from the filters outward to the pump, check valve and hose, and check the disposer connection if the dishwasher drains into one.

How a Viking Call Is Scheduled

Viking appointments are normally same-day or next-day, depending on technician availability and your location. Same-day visits get a 2–3 hour window and a heads-up call 20–30 minutes out. Some Viking parts ship from out of state, so a repair that needs one is finished once the part arrives.

Finding the Viking Rating Plate

Viking puts the rating plate in different places by product. On ranges it may be on the left side panel under the left front grate support, on the oven face frame below the control panel, or on the bottom of the control panel above the door. Viking refrigerators carry it behind the produce drawer or on the interior ceiling, and dishwashers on the left side of the door opening. Parts go in as OEM or original, whichever you prefer and whichever is available. The $50–69 diagnostic depends on the appliance type and is not charged if the repair goes ahead; parts carry a 90-day warranty and labor 30 days.
