OE is LG’s drain failure code: the machine could not pump away the water it washed with. LG names two ordinary culprits – a drain hose with a kink in it and a drain pump filter packed with debris. A third is easy to miss. Heavy suds can form air pockets the pump is unable to clear, so the washer reports a drain fault even though the pump itself is healthy.

LG suggests a listening test during spin; a pump that makes no humming sound is, in LG’s words, not working properly and needs repair service. We empty and clean the filter, straighten the hose, and electrically test the pump, because a blocked filter and a dead pump produce exactly the same two letters.

LE halts the drum and the motor will not turn

The motor stalls, the drum sits motionless and LE stays lit no matter which button is pressed.

LG’s washer code list reads LE as a motor that is overloaded and locked – nothing more specific than that, which is why LG’s own first step is simply to wait.

LG’s first remedy needs no tools: leave the appliance to rest for 30 minutes so it cools, then restart the wash, ideally with a lighter load. If the lockout repeats after resting on a modest load, a technician should test the motor circuit rather than keep restarting it.

Spin cut short by UE or Ub

Instead of climbing to speed, the drum slows back down and the washer gives up with UE or Ub.

LG treats this pair as an imbalance warning with three stated causes: laundry out of balance, an unsuitable quantity of laundry in the tub, and a washer that is not level. LG’s guidance is that its machines perform best filled to about two thirds.

Rebalance the clothes, trim or top up toward two thirds, and put a level across the lid. A repeat on a correct load and a level machine means the problem is in the washer, not the laundry.

Loads need a second run and the panel shows a code between d75 and d95.

The FlowSense system measures exhaust restriction and reports it by number – LG equates d75, d80, d90 and d95 with a duct 75%, 80%, 90% and 95% clogged. LG ties blockages to overly long or bendy ductwork and notes that some are invisible. iFixit describes a clear duct triggering the same codes when a hi-limit thermostat opens early and makes FlowSense believe the dryer is running hot, or when a cycling thermostat, outlet thermistor or control board has failed.

LG is explicit that a severely restricted exhaust may create an unsafe environment – do not use the dryer until the exhaust system has been cleaned and repaired. We test airflow at the outside termination, clear the run if that is the fault, and move to the thermostats and thermistor when it is not.
