Food stays cold and the dispenser still gives water, but the bin sits empty or fills far slower than it used to.
iFixit lists eleven causes. Temperature first: if the freezer is above 10 degrees F the ice maker will not work properly, and a faulty door seal or door switch can hold it there. Then water: the inlet valve is an electrically-controlled mechanical valve, starved by low pressure or by a kink or clog in the line. Then hardware – a cracked tray, the ice level control board, the mold thermostat, or the assembly itself.
We work that order, because the cheap causes sit at the top: the actual freezer temperature rather than the setting, then the seal and the door switch, then the water supply – before anyone starts pricing an assembly.
The cycle never starts. The panel reads IE, or dE with the door apparently shut.
Two codes, opposite ends of the machine. LG states IE means the water supply is inadequate, and its first instruction is to make sure the supply tap is fully open – so the fault may not be inside the machine at all. LG states dE means the washer cannot lock its door, and lists three causes: the door not closed completely, the door misaligned, or a defective latch. Only the third is a parts job.
On IE we trace the supply from the tap forward rather than assume the valve has failed. On dE we check closure and alignment first – a door that has settled slightly on its hinge reports the same code as a dead latch.
The dryer turns but will not heat, or stops early, and the code is not one of the FlowSense d-codes.
LG’s dryer code list separates airflow faults from electrical and sensor faults. nP means no current is being detected at the heater, and PS means improper voltage within the power cord – both point at the supply rather than the drum. F0 means the lint filter is out. HS is an error with the humidity sensor, the part that tells the dryer the load is dry.
We separate a supply problem from an appliance problem before opening anything. nP and PS send us to the circuit and the cord first. HS explains a dryer that stops while the clothes are still damp with no duct restriction, so we test the sensor rather than clean a vent that is already clear.
